The home of cheap eats in Wellington
November 23, 2016

Forget your traditional food courts – head to Wellington’s Capital Market on Willis St! You’ll find incredible food from all around the world. Korean, Italian, BBQ and everything else you can think of is there. They’ve got it all!

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Capital Market’s Food Fest last week. We tried dishes from lots of the stalls and it was all incredible. But mostly, I’m still dreaming of the spicy popcorn chicken from Miss Kangsta and Gamberi from La Buca. Gamberi is creamy prawn pasta. And when they say creamy, they mean it!

Other stand out dishes for me were the Lemongrass & Chilli Chicken with Vermicelli from Where’s Charlie and the crepe from Bun Bun which also doubled as entertainment as we watched it being made, flipped and filled.. I promise I’m not drooling all over my keyboard right now.

I also tucked into some of the best sushi I’ve had in Wellington – One Sushi. I even tried deep fried sushi which I hadn’t before and it was surprisingly good (I may need to steer clear of it if I want to fit into my wedding dress though #shreddingforthewedding!).

After eating all of this amazing food we were all well and truly stuffed to the brim! I was considering taking a nap while others were discussing undoing pant buttons to be able to breathe! But then came the cake. You know it’s good when you have eight food bloggers huddled around something all taking pictures (gotta take every opportunity!). This wasn’t just any cake though, it was VEGAN! And honestly, if I hadn’t of known that I never would have guessed. It was moist and tasty. For me to call a cake tasty is pretty high praise as I don’t have much of a sweet tooth but I really got into this.

If you’re in Wellington, check it out. It’s great for a speedy, cheap lunch! Or head there for dinner – they even have a bar! For those like me who love a wine with their dinner, this is a must! <3

Thanks to Capital Market for a fab afternoon and to the other food bloggers for fabulous company and for totally normalising taking shit loads of photos of what we’re about to eat! @herestoappetite @capitaleats @fattab and @wellingnoms – stalk them all on Insta x
