I made this as an entree last night for our friend before he moves away in a few days.
It was really quick to prepare which is always important when you have visitors – you don’t want to spend the entire time cooking – and it is really tasty. All round winner in my books.
Serves 4
Ingredients
Seared tuna
- 400g fresh tuna – I used yellow fin
- 1/2 cup sesame seeds
- olive oil for searing
Dipping sauce
- 1 tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp rice wine vinegar
Spicy mayo
- 2 tbsp Japanese mayo
- 1 tbsp sriracha
Instructions
- Mix all of the dipping sauce ingredients in a bowl. Set aside.
- Mix the spicy mayo ingredients together. Set aside.
- Lay sesame seeds on a board or plate. Press tuna steaks into them until coated.
- Heat pan to a high heat. Place the oil in the pan.
- Place tuna steaks in the pan. Sear for approximately 90 seconds each side (depending on the thickness of your tuna).
- Remove from pan and slice.
- Place the sliced tuna on dinner plates. Place about 2 tbsp of the dipping sauce on top and then place spicy mayo on top.
Easy and delicious! Just how food should be. X
